Murray is a healthcare executive and entrepreneur with extensive experience building and leading organizations dedicated to improving outcomes for patients with rare and complex diseases. She has guided U.S. and global biopharmaceutical and medical device companies from business development through commercialization, leveraging executive leadership roles at GlaxoSmithKline and Grifols, as well as her strategic consulting firm, Velocity P3.

As Chief Executive Officer of AlphaDetect and a member of its Board of Directors, Murray is focused on advancing the organization’s mission: accelerating detection to uncover everyone genetically at risk of Alpha‑1 Antitrypsin Deficiency (Alpha‑1). In alignment with the Alpha‑1 Foundation and in collaboration with the Alpha‑1 healthcare community, she and the AlphaDetect team are working to increase awareness of Alpha‑1, reduce barriers to detection, and establish genetic testing for Alpha‑1 as a routine part of care for individuals with liver and/or lung disease.

Murray is passionate about advancing earlier detection because she believes no one living with Alpha‑1 should spend years searching for answers.

Dr Kuhn describes himself as driven by scientific curiosity, compassion for people, and a quest for answers. An Associate Professor at the UC Davis School of Medicine, he co-founded and co-directs its Comprehensive COPD Clinic and is Medical Director of the Reversible Obstructive Airway Disease program. His work spans COPD, asthma, and Alpha‑1, reflecting his philosophy of owning the entire airway.

An Alpha‑1 Foundation-designated expert since 2018, he has served as principal investigator on many Alpha‑1 clinical trials and published and lectured extensively on the condition. Raised in a family with a strong tradition of philanthropy, Kuhn sees his role at AlphaDetect as an opportunity to give back while working toward uncovering everyone genetically at risk of Alpha‑1. He characterizes that goal as ambitious, necessary, and an aspiration he is firmly committed to.

Halsey’s career combines deep expertise in human genetics and genomics with extensive experience leading laboratory operations in support of clinical trials. At CROs including IQVIA and Discovery Life Sciences, he progressed to increasingly senior roles, with operational responsibilities both inside and outside the US.

At AlphaDetect, Halsey is responsible for laboratory operations and the Customer Care Center, working closely with the Laboratory Director, the Provider Engagement Team, and marketing. Success for him is ensuring the quality of every test, while helping to create a seamless experience for healthcare providers seeking answers for their patients.

Halsey is motivated by the opportunity to use science for the good of others. He brings compassion and empathy to his work, along with a commitment to making a meaningful difference for people with liver and/or lung disease who may have Alpha‑1.

Hinson serves as AlphaDetect’s National Director of Provider Engagement, where he leads efforts to advance Alpha‑1 detection through provider education, strategic partnerships, and healthcare system engagement.

Working alongside healthcare providers, Clinical Resource Centers, and professional organizations across the country, Hinson and his team help expand awareness of Alpha‑1, support the implementation of evidence-based detection strategies, and promote sustainable clinical workflows that make testing a routine part of care.

Hinson is passionate about building collaborative networks that bring together physicians, allied health professionals, and healthcare systems around a common goal: identifying individuals with Alpha‑1 earlier so they can access the education, resources, and specialized care they need.

He believes that the clinical knowledge, testing technologies, and implementation strategies necessary to improve Alpha‑1 detection already exist. The opportunity now is to integrate those tools consistently into everyday clinical practice, and that is the mission driving his work at AlphaDetect.

Kiernan brings over 20 years of consumer, patient, and healthcare provider marketing experience to AlphaDetect. She has led launches across rare disease areas, driven awareness, and changed behavior to improve lives while working with biotech, rare disease, and biopharmaceutical organizations.

Kiernan describes her 2012 introduction to the Alpha‑1 community as providing a proud sense of purpose and is honored to focus on a mission that will change lives for generations. At AlphaDetect, she develops and implements strategies across channels to remove barriers to Alpha‑1 detection and empower patients and providers with critical information to inform decisions.

Working alongside the AlphaDetect team and the healthcare community reflects her personal commitment to improving lives. For over two decades, she has been actively involved with various nonprofits through fundraising, event hosting, and hands-on contributions, including serving on the board of Women’s Giving Network of Wake County as its chair of marketing and communications.

Glazer brings more than 30 years of pharmaceutical and medical device experience to AlphaDetect, along with deep expertise in operations, project management, compliance, and medical affairs. He has built and led teams, established new functions, and guided organizations through periods of significant change.

At AlphaDetect, Glazer oversees, quality compliance, and governance frameworks, collaborating closely with company leaders and the Board. His mandate is broad but singular in purpose: protecting the trust of the organization and ensuring quality in everything it does.

Proactive by nature, Glazer is always looking ahead to identify and defuse risks before they materialize. He describes one of his greatest strengths as turning potential chaos into opportunity by bringing both discipline and perspective to complex situations.

A licensed pharmacist and Leading Professional in Ethics and Compliance (LPEC), Glazer earned his Doctor of Pharmacy from Purdue University and his Bachelor of Pharmacy from Ohio Northern University. Read less

Corrigan brings a strong healthcare and scientific foundation to her work at AlphaDetect, with over 2 decades of experience at academic medical centers, specialty pharmacy, and medical device companies as a registered dietitian and medical affairs leader.

Under his leadership, A1F spearheaded the development of AlphaDetect to identify individuals at genetic risk for Alpha‑1 and expand early detection efforts.

Santarella has a history of producing transformative results, driving mission-driven organizations to expand access, accelerate progress, and strengthen support systems for the communities they serve. Before joining A1F, he held leadership positions with the Global Lyme Alliance, the Bonnie J. Addario Lung Cancer Foundation, the American Lung Association of New York, and the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.

Dr Brantly is a University of Florida Emeritus Professor of Medicine and the former Alpha‑1 Foundation Research Professor of Medicine in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine.

Brantly was Vice Chair of Research for the Department of Medicine at the University of Florida. He completed his undergraduate degree at Florida State University and received his MD degree from the University of Florida. His pulmonary and research training was at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD, at the NHLBI Pulmonary Branch.

Brantly was a Parker B. Francis Fellow from 1986-1990 and was honored with the John W. Walsh PAR Award for Excellence in 2018. Brantly is the former Scientific Director of the Alpha‑1 Foundation.

He has co-authored more than 200 publications, many of which are on the molecular basis of Alpha‑1. Brantly ran the Alpha‑1 Detection Laboratory for more than 35 years and has screened more than 1 million individuals for Alpha‑1. Read less

Through his scientific leadership and vision, Brenner has helped shape the direction of biomedical research, medical education, and healthcare innovation for decades. He is internationally recognized for his contributions to the understanding of hepatic fibrosis, porphyria, and therapy for liver diseases.

Currently President and CEO of Sanford Burnham Prebys, Brenner previously spent 15 years as Vice Chancellor for Health Sciences and Dean of the School of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego. Before that, he held leadership positions at Columbia University and the University of North Carolina.

Hagstrom brings both professional expertise and personal experience to his work on behalf of the Alpha‑1 community.

After more than 20 years in investment banking and management consulting, Hagstrom was diagnosed with ZZ Alpha‑1 in 2008 after experiencing increasing shortness of breath. His disease progressed aggressively, leaving him with just 29% lung function at the time of diagnosis. Hagstrom ultimately needed a bilateral lung transplant in 2016.

His personal journey fuels his commitment to helping others navigate the challenges of Alpha‑1 and underscores his belief that earlier detection enables patients and families to make more informed decisions.

As Chair of the Alpha‑1 Foundation Board of Directors, he plays an active role in advancing the organization’s mission across research, patient support, and early detection. He is a passionate advocate for fellow Alphas.

Hagstrom earned a BS in Engineering from Purdue University. Read less

Dr Lomas is internationally recognized for his contributions to respiratory medicine, biomedical research, and healthcare leadership. Throughout his career, he has helped advance scientific understanding of Alpha‑1 and other respiratory diseases while shaping the future of academic medicine and translational research.

Lomas currently serves as Professor of Medicine at University College London (UCL), Honorary Consultant Respiratory Physician at University College London Hospitals and the Royal Free London Hospitals, and is NIHR Senior Investigator Emeritus.

His pioneering research has provided critical insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying Alpha‑1 and related protein-folding disorders, laying the foundation for new therapeutic approaches and a deeper scientific understanding of disease development.

Lomas earned his medical degree from the University of Nottingham and his PhD from Trinity College, Cambridge. He has had leadership positions at the University of Cambridge, GSK, and the UK Medical Research Council. Read less

As a Board Member of AlphaDetect, he is passionate about applying his experience in leadership, organizational effectiveness, stakeholder engagement, and commercial acumen to the goal of unifying the Alpha‑1 community around accelerating detection.

Mosely earned his PhD in Pathology from the University of Washington and holds a BS in Biology from Loma Linda University. He also serves on the boards of KnowRare and the Children’s Literacy Initiative. Read less
